Tellskapelle, Tellsplatte Lake Lucerne Uri Switzerland 4K

Tellkapelle is located in Switzerland on the shore of Lake Lucerne south of the village of Sisikon in the Swiss canton of Uri. It stands at the Tellsplatte, where, according to legend, Wilhelm Tell is said to have jumped from the bailiff Gessler's boat during a storm.
A chapel was built on this site as early as 1388. The present chapel was built in 1879/80 and contains four paintings by the Basel painter Ernst Stückelberg from the story of Willhelm Tell:
- The apple shot in Altdorf
- The Tell jump onto the Tellsplatte
- Gessler's death in the Hohlen Gasse near Küssnacht
- The Rütli oath in a meadow on the opposite side of the Lake

The Tell's Chapel can be reached on foot from the car park of the Tellsplatte Hotel, which is located directly on the Axenstrasse, or by boat. Above the Tell Chapel, the largest carillon in Switzerland has been ringing out melodies since 2001.
