Tunog Kadayawan 2019 GRAND CHAMPION

Yutang Mabungahon is a song that talks about the importance of land to the lumad as their source of life. It is a collaborative effort of Kuntaw Mindanao, Sining Kamalayan, and MUSIKAL.

The song is inspired from the "ulahing", a traditional Matigsalog melody shared by Mila,a young lumad participant, in one of our songwriting workshops. Our collective of musicians from Kuntaw and Silayan developed it into a song with lyrics and musical arrangement by Neil Cervantes.

The collaborative process of creating this song leads us to form a collective of young musicians that continue the tradition of making music that is responsive and sensitive to the conditions and aspirations of the stewards of the earth - mga Tanod-Lupa - the Lumad.

We are Tagapukaw Earth Music Collective, and we are inviting our fellow young musicians/songwriters to join us as we take part in producing music for the Earth, a music inspired from the life and struggle of the indigenous peoples.
