The "Bonnie Blue flag" was a banner associated at various times with the Republic of Texas, Republic of West Florida, and the Confederate States of America. It consists of a single, five-pointed white star on a blue field. Its first use being as early as 1810, it is considered the first lone star flag in U.S. history. The flag has come to symbolize independence, secession, self-governance, self-sufficiency and State Sovereignty. The flag is often flown by single-handed sailors in southern waters out of respect and also allowing ship masters as well as port authorities to know the the vessel is being sailed single-handed by a self-sufficient sailor.

In 1861 Harry Macarthy wrote "The Bonnie Blue Flag," a song that he performed before a packed house in New Orleans. The crowd loved the song, and its popularity quickly spread across the South. After the “War for Southern Independence”, anyone singing the song or having possession of the “Bonnie Blue Flag” in the Federally occupied South was subject to arrest, imprisonment and to having their property confiscated in an attempt by the Federals to destroy southern culture and heritage. Under Federal occupation, displaying the flag or singing one of the most popular songs of the south became an act of treason, as the Federal’s continued to ignored the United States Constitution and weaponize the federal government against Southerners. The flag has changed meaning over time, Southerners continue to fly the flag to show respect, tradition, self-sufficiency and independence.

Based on the servo pendulum principle and utilizing Beauty’s rudder, the Monitor is unequaled in performance and durability. The paddle can be raised or lowered. The servo paddle is only in the water when the windvane is steering. The Monitor's paddle is easily remotely lowered and raised from the stern. The Monitor steers Beauty about 85% of the time offshore. The Monitor acts as another hand on board and probably the most valuable item I’ve added for safety and comfort. The Monitor is Ideal for a long voyage or for coastal cruising.

Punta Blanca Island anchorage. The island is 1.5 miles long and 600 feet wide at its north end. Its narrow beach faces east over Charlotte Harbor. Sailors find a protected anchorage among red mangroves on the west. Its south shore faces Useppa Island less than a mile away. In its geology and history, Punta Blanca Island is closely related to Cayo Costa. In 1868 a pass separating the two islands appeared on a navigational chart. Like Cayo Costa, Punta Blanca today is part of the Florida State Park System.
