Ingredients:

*For the Cake:*
500g all-purpose flour
500g unsalted butter, softened
500g brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup dark rum
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 cup mixed dried fruits (raisins, currants, candied peel)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

*For the Rum Syrup:*
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup dark rum

Instructions:

*For the Cake:*

1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.

2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.

3. In another large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

6. Stir in the dark rum, vanilla extract, chopped nuts, and mixed dried fruits until well combined.

7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

*For the Rum Syrup:*

1. In a saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring continuously.

2. Remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the dark rum.

*Assembling the Cake:*

1. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.

2. While the cake is still warm, poke holes in it using a skewer or toothpick.

3. Pour the prepared rum syrup over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in gradually.

4. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
