Background:
The Tower was built in 1979 as part of Sun City West’s new library and recreation center. The original clock was electromechanical and in recent years had constantly been off time. In 2017 as part of renovations, the tower was repainted, and the original electromechanical clock was replaced with new equipment by The Verdin Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Adagio II Electronic Carillon strikes on the half hour and hour and every day at 12 Noon plays “The Star Spangled Banner” the US National Anthem. Hourly chimes go off from 6AM to 10PM.
