A major international broadcasting event is being held in Korea this year... promoting new horizons for media content.
In a rapidly changing world influened by new platforms, technologies, and social media.... what does the future hold for broadcasting and its global reach?
Today, our Kim Ji-yeon reports from a meeting of ministers across the Asian region... held on the sidelines of the Asia Media Summit 2016.
The 2016 World Information, Communication and Broadcasting Ministerial Meeting was held Tuesday, in the northwestern port city of Incheon, on the sidelines of the Asia Media Summit.
Information and communications technology minsters and vice ministers from nine countries met to share their experience and know-how for the sustainable development of the broadcasting industry in the Asia-Pacific.
They exchanged views on how coverage of real-life issues,... ranging from natural and man-made disasters to disease epidemics, have helped their countries overcome hardships.
During discussions, representatives reiterated the importance of developing their respective countries' broadcasting capacity... by making content more affordable and accessible to the public.
They also focused on narrowing the broadcasting gap... through the sharing of technology and services... to transcend borders, gender, generational and cultural differences.
Their ideas were summed up in a joint statement read by Korea's Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning.

"As a result, we've adopted the declaration on the future of broadcasting development in Asia. I firmly believe that our agreement on advancement of the broadcasting industry in the Asia-Pacific region will serve as an opportunity to expand mutual cooperation and exchanges in the area over the coming years."

While the ministers coordinated, the main event rolled along.
Some 300 senior officials and experts from state-run broadcasters around the world are participating in this year's Asia Media Summit,... taking in sessions and pinpointing future areas of broadcasting development throughout the 3-day event.
