This video was produced when the laboratory operated as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The laboratory is now the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR). The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Community Energy and Water Resilience Installation (CEWRI) program provides solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with battery storage for critical loads and water storage systems to increase Puerto Rico’s energy resilience during emergencies. This training, developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) at the request of the Department of Energy (DOE) on behalf of HORNE for the Puerto Rico Department of Housing (PRDOH or Vivienda), provides instruction on best practices, successful planning, homeowner training, and lessons learned for installation of solar PV systems with battery backup in Puerto Rico. The target audience for this training is Program Managers and Solar PV + Storage System Installers participating in the CEWRI program in Puerto Rico. NREL also developed a companion training for homeowners participating in the program.
