1) AdvancedMD
Cloud-based entirely. AdvancedMD allows you to mix and match different needs to essentially have a custom program for you that is also flexible (or has pre-made standard bundles), and also allows for benchmarking performance. Billing varies and can be done on a "per encounter" basis with a $500 monthly minimum, or can go by $729 or more per provider per month. Although thorough and flexible, this price point makes it among the most expensive EHRs. AdvancedMD also has a 4 star Capterra rating by its users.

2) NextGen Healthcare
Only for outpatient providers, can be installed on computers or phones or accessed through the cloud, in-person or online training options, aside from standard billing/scheduling/clinical notes of typical EHRs, this offers e-prescribing options and also ranks you and offers goals for meeting Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Promoting Interoperability standards, pricing starts at $379 per month for a part-time provider and goes up from there charging per provider ~$449-549 with discounts to get started sometimes, also 4-star Capterra rating

3) Kareo
Has general info, clinical, billing, and marketing sections. $300-500 per provider per month. Is a fairly lean platform and although it is flexible because of this it is a better fit for smaller practices. Also 4 stars on Capterra.

4) eClinicalWorks
eClinicalWorks is the largest provider in the space. 3.5 stars on Capterra. Cloud-only. $499/user/month. Can also have a patient portal, inventory management, and is good for multiple offices. Lower ratings due to customer service quality complaints and general inefficiencies and ease of use issues. Is applauded for new features and comprehensiveness.

5) Allscripts
Although Allscripts focuses on small to medium-sized practices, it is a large and publicly-traded company. It's the option that's been around the longest- since 1981 to be precise. It seems to have had trouble adapting and everything is built off its old legacy systems. No free trial. It does offer cloud, installation on Windows machines, or mobile phone options. Some of the benefits customers mention are its storage ability, ability to scan in cards and IDs, and the ability to add a lot to patient files. Fees are lower than most at $100-300 per provider usually, although it may have onboarding fees too. Some of the cons tend to be poor flexibility, poor ability to navigate, and crashes often. 3-star rating on Capterra.
