Installing a MINT Type R MOMO Steering Wheel from Japan! | Acura RSX Build

Описание к видео Installing a MINT Type R MOMO Steering Wheel from Japan! | Acura RSX Build

In today's video, the Acura RSX Type-S gets some overnight parts from Japan! We install a MINT Integra Type R DC5 Steering wheel (without) an SRS light! Generally, Honda steering wheels are easy to swap and install, but this one is a bit tricky. So let's swap some stuff and make it work!

In the Honda world, a new steering wheel can make all the difference in driving feel! Especially on the 90's Honda's steering wheel swaps. The OEM Acura RSX wheel isn't all that bad, but mine was starting to show it's age. Rather than do an Alcantara wheel wrap, I wanted to properly fit an Integra Type R/EP3 steering wheel from Japan. This is made by MOMO and has the gorgeous red stitching. The trick to making this work is to swap the airbag inflator from the USDM cover into the JDM cover. This ensures the SRS plus is correct. It's also possible to swap the cruise control bracket (although I chose not to).

As far as the inflator goes, the swap is straightforward (BUT PLEASE, do this at your own risk). if you don't feel comfortable, you can have a trained tech do it. The end result is an SRS (air bag functioning) steering wheel swap that looks SO GOOD! Easily my best mod I have done to the Acura RSX interior. After the install, we take it for a quick drive to make sure all is well! An uneventful install, but that's what I was hoping for!

The next Type R mod will be the pedal covers at some point, but that'll be a tough one to film! What Honda steering wheel swaps have you done? Let me know in the comments (S2000 Wheel swap into the 96-00 Civic FTW).
