Bendy and the Ink Machine Chapter 3: How TheMeatly Quit His Day Job

Bendy and the Ink Machine Chapter 4 dropped this week, and in celebration, here's our tribute to the third chapter of this game.

This video feels strangely appropriate for our family at the moment. Kotor is uploading this at a little after midnight in the UK, so the idea of burning the midnight oil is certainly familiar!

Bendy and the Ink Machine Chapter 3 was a difficult game to make. It seems that this is the case with everything Mike Mood and TheMeatly build together! They just don't like to take things slow!

There's a nice lesson in here about working hard and putting in the effort required to achieve your goals, but maybe don't take TheMeatly Games' full experience to heart. Don't overwork yourself in pursuit of your dreams, or everything will end up taking twice as long!

I feel like the idea of quitting your day job is one that can feel like a big step for any creator, and rightly so. We often idealize this experience, dreaming of how we'll storm out in a flash of fire and scattered papers, burning every bridge behind us on our way.

Take it from someone who has quit his day job to pursue a career in creative media (Kotor). It's not necessarily quite as cathartic as you'd expect, especially if, like TheMeatly, you're jumping into the unknown and you don't necessarily want to destroy any chance you might have of getting a reference if you need one in the future!
