Here is a view of the surgical monitor of the Selman Surgical Rehearsal Platform. The surgeon is guiding a clip into position around the neck of the aneurysm. As the clip passes in proximity to the blood vessels, they move a bit, and this action is reflected on the video monitor. Once the clip is in good position, it is released from the applier, and the neck of the aneurysm gets smaller as it gets closed off. The surgeon is able to rotate the image to inspect the back side of the aneurysm to ensure that the neck is completely secured and to ensure that the clip has not inadvertently occluded any of the important branches. In cases of small perforating vessels, the only limitation in their visualization is the method by which the images are derived.
