2023 Herald Maverick 250 euro 5 first ride

I knew it would rain when I went to collect the bike, but I never thought the roads would be plastered in salt and mud for almost my entire ride back from the dealership. I also knew how much I would get plastered as my neighbour has the 125cc version and gets equally plastered on his ride to work and back every day. I ordered the extenders and suggested he did the same. First impressions are that the clutch bites immediately you start to let the lever out, and the throttle has an all or nothing feel at walking speed in traffic which makes smooth riding behind traffic a bit sketchy, but something that most riders would get used to soon enough. It also doesn't feel anywhere near the 24hp that I've read or even the 21hp I read somewhere else, but it doesn't rev it's nuts off like a 125, and it will probably get smoother and better as it runs in. The tyres are also something which some owners have had concerns about, but I found them good enough for what they are and had no scary moments despite them being brand new and the roads wet and slippery, but I do have a pair of better trail riding tyres to fit. Another concern is how tight all the wiring seems to be and gives me the impression that the wires would soon fracture if I dont do something about it before my next ride. I'll keep everyone posted as I put the miles on and let you all know how well, or not, it's going. IMPORTANT UPDATE.... When I cleaned the grime off prior to spraying with various protectants, I lifted the seat to get some contact spray on the fuses and connectors, and found the entire underneath of the seat was as filthy as the front of the bike including all the wiring, and the battery tray had a centimeter of salt water sitting in it. However a Herald dealer has just told me this has only happened to my bike, which you can believe or not. This was not the dealer I bought the bike from by the way.
