Signs of Magicians – Are They Proven by Scholars?

The signs of magicians—such as asking for the mother's name, requesting worn clothes, blood, hair, or demanding the sacrifice of a black animal—are indeed proven through the statements and fatwas of major Islamic scholars.

1. Fatwa of Sheikh Ibn Baz (رحمه الله):

Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz (رحمه الله) said:
"Anyone who goes to someone claiming to have knowledge of the unseen or using jinn in any way is involved in sorcery (sihr) and must be avoided."
(Majmu' Fatawa Ibn Baz, 2/384)

When asked why magicians ask for the mother’s name, he replied:
"This is part of their magic, as they use it to communicate with jinn."

2. Statement of Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen (رحمه الله):

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen (رحمه الله) said:
"If a person asks for your mother's name or requests unusual items that have no logical or Islamic basis for treatment, then know that he is either a magician or associated with magic."

3. Fatwa of Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan:

Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan said:
"Anyone who asks for clothes, blood, or hair, or claims to know the unseen, is undoubtedly a magician. Stay away from them."
(Al-Muntaqa min Fatawa Al-Fawzan, 2/132)

4. Fatwa from the Saudi Permanent Committee (Al-Lajnah Ad-Da'imah):

The respected scholars of Saudi Arabia have issued a fatwa stating:
"If someone asks for the mother's name or requests things that are not part of Islamic healing, then know that they are a magician. It is haram to go to such people."
(Fatawa Al-Lajnah Ad-Da'imah, 1/432)

Conclusion:

Asking for the mother’s name, requesting clothes, blood, hair, or asking for an animal sacrifice are clear signs of magic.

These are proven through the fatwas of major scholars of Islam.

Such individuals rely on jinn and shayateen (devils) for their actions.

A Muslim should only seek healing through Quran and Sunnah-based ruqya.
