Make these cute woven heart baskets with me! I grew up in a Danish household where we had these on the Christmas tree every year. We often fill them with candy and use them as ornaments on the tree. They’re super easy to make, and I’m going to show you exactly what you need to do to make them yourself.

You only need a few supplies to get started: 2 pieces of cardstock paper (1 red, 1 white are the colors I use, but varying the colors makes this even more fun), a pair of scissors, a ruler, double-sided tape, a pencil, and an eraser.

Cut red and white paper into strips measuring 2.5 x 9 inches. Fold each strip in half.

From the crease, measure up 3 inches. Round off the non-folded ends, and cut your strips up to the 3-inch line.

Okay, here’s the fun part! Weave the two colors together with the first red strip sliding over the first white strip, then through the next white strip, then over, then through. Reverse for the second row, and continue this pattern until squares appear and a heart is formed.

Cut a ½ x 5 inch strip and tape into the inside of the heart to form a handle for your basket. Viola…you have an ornament! Hope you enjoy, and see you next time!
