An eye test changed Nayab’s life

In Pakistan, nine-year-old Nayab was struggling at school. She couldn’t see what was written on the board and was falling behind in her studies.

Miss Ismat, Nayab’s teacher, was trained as part of the school eye health programme in Pakistan. She tested her student’s eyes and identified Nayab’s eyesight problem. She was then referred to an optometrist and that’s when it was discovered that Nayab had a cataract.

She had a cataract operation to remove the cloudy lens from her eye, and within a few hours, her sight was restored.

This video shows Nayab’s transformation after receiving treatment. A straightforward eye test helped to change the course of her life.
