For the stronger players, anyway. Because in solo queue, ranged hangars will make you lose if you're normally the one carrying the team.

Look at your sad, sad teammates. They can’t or won’t get beacons. They can’t or won’t help you in a fight. I spent three hours trying to get a decent set of games, and most of the time I used the ranged hangar, it was a loss. Not because I wasn't getting good kills and caps (I mean, not any less than normal anyway), but because my teammates were eating paste.

I played for two hours after this and I put a skyros in the ranged lineup, and I began the ranged games by sending out the skyros and getting caps. And you know what? My teammates would just lose slower. I had top caps, top kills, and five feathered albatrosses dangling beneath me on the scoreboard.

Yes, that's the matchmaking's fault and not their fault. 100%. But it means a ranged hangar just isn't a thing in solo queue until they fix matchmaking.
