I had the unfortunate task of removing cigarette smoke from my new-to-me car and after much research, I landed on using an ozone generator. There are a lot of methods out there that claim to remove cigarette smoke, but if you read through the user results, much of the "removing" is just masking the smell. And it's temporary, so the smell does come back.

With an ozone generator, it permanently removes the smell by creating ozone - unstable 3 oxygen molecules where the third molecule wants to combine with whatever it comes into contact with. As I understand it, this is how it removes smells from the surfaces of plastics, leather, headliners etc. And this is another reason, why I didn't run the machine too long (it "attacks" these surfaces to remove the odor). 10 minutes worked well especially because the smoke smell was faint and it was also in a small confined space.

You may want to re-moisturize your leather seats and wipe down your dashboard/plastics post-treatment.
