This video captures my first complete Sydney Metro City extension journey from Chatswood to Sydenham. Although the first metro service ran early in the morning, I filmed my trip in the afternoon.

The new Sydney Metro is part of the M1 North West and Bankstown line. The first section, between Tallawong and Chatswood, opened in May 2019. After approximately four years of construction, the Metro City Extension stations opened to the public in 2023 with a special open-day event.

The M1 North West extension to Bankstown remains closed, as the existing T3 Bankstown Line operated by Sydney Trains is being converted to metro services. This conversion process requires a 12-month closure. By 2025, once the stations' conversion along the Bankstown line is complete, the M1 line will extend to Bankstown.
