This basic homemade white bread turns out great every time. It's our favorite sandwich bread, and is the perfect companion for soup, or any dinner.

2 C warm water or milk (110°)
2 1/2 tsp yeast (1 pkg)
1/3 C sugar
2 Tbsp soft butter
2 tsp salt
6 C all-purpose flour or bread flour

Add water, yeast and sugar to mixing bowl. Let yeast bloom. Then add butter, salt and some of the flour. Turn on mixer with dough hook, and add flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the mixer. Depending on the humidity you may not need to add all the flour. Knead with dough hook for 6-8 minutes.
In a large bowl, coat with a couple teaspoons of oil, place dough in the bowl to ride until doubled in size. Then cut the dough into two pieces and make into a loaf shape. Place each dough in a greased loaf pan and let rise until the dough reaches the to of the loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350° and bake loaves for 30-35 minutes. When each loaf is golden brown remove from pans and let cool. Slice when cooled. You can freeze the loaves if you wrap them plastic wrap or a ziplock bag. Enjoy!
