Foxconn Pulls Chinese Engineers from India, Slowing Apple’s Local iPhone Production Plans

Foxconn, Apple’s main iPhone assembler, has pulled over 300 Chinese engineers and technicians from its Indian factories, causing a setback for Apple’s goal to shift production from China to India. The exact reason is unclear, but it coincides with China’s efforts to restrict tech and skilled labor exports to countries like India and Vietnam.

These Chinese engineers were crucial in training the Indian workforce and transferring production expertise. Their removal could slow down the process of scaling up iPhone manufacturing in India, especially as Apple prepares to launch the iPhone 17.
