Flying Characters in D&D

Some time ago, I did a "slobbering rant" video where I sort of implied that I didn't think flying PCs should be allowed in Dungeons & Dragons. It sparked something of an uproar from some folks, and to this day I still get comments about flying characters.

So, I figured it was time to discuss flying PCs in D&D just a little bit more. Do I in fact think they shouldn't be allowed in the game? Or are they okay?
