MONTENEGRO MOUNTAINS | National Park Prokletije and Komovi | Roadtrip through the Montenegro Alps

The Montenegro mountains are truly amazing! You can expect raw nature at it’s best, because the Alps of Montenegro aren’t that touristy. And that is exactly what we like about hiking! A lot of the hikes we did reminded us about the Dolomites in Italy. If you have been to the north of Italy you know that it is a dangerous comparison, but it is so true. Take a look for yourself!

National Park Prokletije is very close to the Albanian border and after doing some hikes there we knew the Montenegro mountains must be amazing aswel. We were not disapointed with our hikes at all. We only did two hikes in the park, because the weather wasn’t that good. When we did the hike to Valušnica the day was perfect and because we where there in May there was still snow. Which meant some extra spectaculair views. The other hike was to Ropojana Jezera. It’s a easy hike with some of the best views. The hike starts in Vusanje where the beautiful scenery starts!

National Park Komovi is not touristy at all land and we can’t really believe it, because the valley is amazing! We couldn’t drive into the valley, because there was still too much snow. So we had to walk through the snow to get there. It took us about 2 hours from the main road. In summer you are able to drive this part within 10 minutes. Reaching the valley of Komovi was a hike by itself, but totally worth the effort.

Our roadtrip through Montenegro continues to Dormitor and we can’t wait to discover more mountains.
