I have not played Final Fantasy IV yet, but I have always loved the soundtrack. In order to adapt 'Theme of Love' for an English vocal version, I looked up the translation of a Japanese version of the song called 'Hikari no Naka e' (Into the Light), sung by Risa Ohki. I took the literal translation as inspiration by keeping a few phrases in and then completely rewrote the rest with lyrics that complemented the theme, this way it also suited the English language better.
