On the day before the 4th of July, the Evansville Otters signed Pitcher Alex Phillips to a contract. As fans of the club, we tweet out who the Otters have signed, try to find out if they have a Twitter account so we can tag the player as well as find a photo online of them and say, "welcome to Evansville". Sometimes we get reactions but in the case of Alex, we had over 80 retweets, mostly from the Baylor Bears, which was the college he played for. Naturally, after seeing that, it made us want to interview Alex.

As of this writing, Alex is the Otters Closer and has really excelled at the job. He has a power fastball with good location and a slider that he throws at 2 different speeds. We also found out he has a relative that we interviewed for our last @Padres360 story last season.
