We were fortunate to have a behind-the-scenes tour of a Turkish carpet factory (Gallery Cappadocia) and saw the silkworm cocoons that begin the process, the hand weaving and stitching, and the final product. Of course, I bought a small carpet while I was there-they even give you a Certificate of Authenticity.
