Ceres - A Dwarf Planet with Water Ice and Organic Molecules

Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt, and it is also a dwarf planet. It is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, and it is about 950 kilometers in diameter.

In 2015, NASA's Dawn spacecraft arrived at Ceres and began to orbit the dwarf planet. Dawn's instruments confirmed the presence of water ice on the surface, and they also found evidence of organic molecules.

In several locations on its surface, scientists observed bright spots, which turned out to be highly reflective areas containing water ice. The presence of water ice and organic molecules on Ceres suggests that the dwarf planet may have been habitable in the past.

Scientists believe that Ceres could have a subsurface ocean, which makes it an exciting target for future exploration.
