🐘 Baby elephant's dramatic 5-hour rescue from deep well
In a rural village in India, a 6-month-old elephant calf fell into an abandoned 20-foot deep stone well. The baby was trapped at the bottom, unable to climb the smooth walls.
The mother elephant and her entire herd surrounded the well, trumpeting in distress. The mother desperately reached down with her trunk but couldn't get close to her baby.
Villagers immediately called forest officials who arrived with an excavator. They made a careful decision - break one wall of the well to create a mud ramp the baby could climb.
For 5 hours, the rescue team worked while the herd waited anxiously. Finally, they broke through the wall. The mother elephant positioned herself at the top of the ramp, guiding her exhausted baby up with her trunk.
When the baby finally emerged, the entire herd surrounded him, touching him gently with their trunks in an incredible display of elephant family love.
