On April 23, 2022, a patrolman observed a 2013 BMW driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, a middle-aged woman, exhibited slurred speech and confusion regarding the stop, claiming she was driving her ex's car to pick up her son. Noticing signs of intoxication and damage to the vehicle's front bumper, officers called a supervisor to administer field sobriety tests. The driver performed poorly on the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand tests, struggling with balance and instructions. Based on these observations and traffic infractions, she was arrested for driving under the influence. At the police headquarters, she invoked her Miranda rights, refused to answer questions, and declined a breathalyzer test. She was later released with multiple summonses, including driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to chemical testing, failure to maintain lane, uninsured vehicle, and reckless driving.
