A short 4K glimpse of outside Gurdwara Patal Puri at the small town of Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab, India. It located next to the Sutlej river and many Sikhs bring the ashes of their loved ones here. This is a sacred and tranquil place holding a lot of rich Sikh history.
The town of Kiratpur was established by the 6thSikh Guru, Guru Hargobind in 1627, he also spent the last few years of his time here.
Guru Nanak was also said to have visited this place when it was little more than a jungle.
Both the 7th and 8th Sikh Gurus (Guru Har Rai and Guru Har Krishan) were born and bought up in Kiratpur.
This is the sacred place where 6th Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind (1644) and 7th Sikh Guru, Guru Har Rai (1661) were cremated.
8th Sikh Guru, Guru Harkrishans ashes were also immersed in these waters in 1664.
In 1675 tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh travelled here with his followers to receive the head of his father Guru Tegh Bahadur (9th Sikh Guru) who had been executed and martyred in Delhi.
