The Horsemanship Minute - Benefits of turning your horse out with other horses.

Every once in a while, I encounter a horse that has no horse social etiquette. Typically, these horses haven’t had any or much experience being with other horses.

They are much more difficult to train, and they can be irritable and have no spatial boundaries. 🤯😬

They haven’t learned to be a horse, that there are spatial boundaries, and that there is a hierarchy and social order to a herd. 🤯🐎

If you have a horse that is very irritable, ornery, pushy, and overall difficult to handle, it’s so helpful to get them into a herd of horses to teach them valuable lessons that will make them much more enjoyable and safe to be around and work with. 😍

Are there physical risks to this? Yes. 💯

Could your horse potentially get injured? Yes. 💯

However, the benefits far outweigh the risks, in my opinion. 💯

There is risk to everything we do and everything our horses do. If we didn’t do things because they were risky, no one would drive a car or ride a horse. 😉😊
