We bought 3 tall 10’X16’ Tuff Sheds from Home Depot. They were on sale at the end of the year for $5,600 each for a basic shell with a vapor barrier. We are turning them into cottages that can sleep 6 or more people. We have completed the first one by adding power, plumbing, insulation, windows, a loft, beds, a mini kitchen, and a bathroom. This video is an overview about how we did it. We spent under $3,000 for the materials to finish the first one, making the whole cost around $8,000. It’s obviously taken a lot of planning and work to complete the first cottage, but we’re delighted with the results. We’ll be recruiting/hiring our grandkids to complete the other two after we get together for this summer’s reunion. We hope it will give them a personal stake in these cottages and help them learn a bit about construction.
