Its a cold, wet windy day, as storm Chandra hits the UK. I apologise in advance for any interruption to your viewing that this may cause. In my experience the bad weather does not deter the birds, fortunately.
Due to the issues live-streaming during the bad weather I have uploaded some of today's livestream, in 4KHD, it can be seen here: • Starlings, Tits, Finches, Robins, Woodpeck... ).
EDIT:
As the storm has affected the livestream today. it is affecting it so badly, that I will end the livestream and upload the video recording of today's activity after 4pm, when the birds have finished feeding. My apologies for the interruption to the livestream, we will return tomorrow, when the weather (and the issues it is creating) have abated.
As the starlings have been increasing in numbers and the duration of feeding, increasingly preventing the smaller birds from having access to the food, I have changed some of the feeders. As the fat pellets are usually finished by the afternoon, and the small birds try to feed throughout the day, I will be putting some of the fat pellets into a peanut feeder, as the starlings do not seem to use the peanut feeder.
I will also be putting some fat balls into a peanut feeder, for the same reason and changing white feeder bowl back to containing water, so the larger birds hopefully leave the right hand section of the feeding area for the smaller birds, as the feeders they use will be on the other side of the tree.
It will be interesting to see whether this enables the small birds to continue to have access to food throughout the day, as is the intention. I first tried this yesterday and the fat pellets did last for the whole day: https://www.youtube.com/live/uwbM9glD....
Happy Birdwatching All!
Due to the birds starting to feed later in the morning whilst it is cold, the livestreams will now go live around 7.30am. Thank you for your patience whilst we wait for our feathered friends to start their day.
Please consider leaving a little food out for the birds in your area, if you can. The numbers of small birds in the UK are reducing and it would be nice if we could help them to make it through the winter. With the added bonus of them being lovely to watch! Fat pellets, especially ones flavoured with berries, sunflower hearts or other foods, are very popular. As are fat balls with food mixed into them.
I hope that everyone gets to enjoy nature everyday, as it's good for health and wellbeing, even if you can't get out into it, watching it can still help, as research suggests that viewing nature scenes (or being out in nature) can have up to 13 beneficial effects on our health and wellbeing, such as helping us to relax, reducing depression, quicker healing, bolstering the immune system, lowering stress levels and increasing lifespan (https://www.happybrainscience.com/blo...)
So I hope this livestream helps to bring a sense of peace and wellbeing to you and all that watch it.
Please like and subscribe if you would like me to keep streaming and thank you for watching!
