After almost a year, it's finally here! Let's take a look at the new Snapshot updates available this week for Minecraft 1.9 the Combat Update (15w31a,15w31b & 15w31c) and run down the list of new features & fixes added, including Dual Wielding, a Left Handed option for players & mobs, glow effect Spectral Arrows & 14 types of potion Tipper Arrows, the Grass Path block, Beetroot crops, Beetroot Seeds & Beetroot Soup, Splash Water Bottles to put out fires, a Levitation effect, the removal of Nether Fog, the dev-only Structure block, thinner Glass Panes & Iron Bars, Trapdoors no longer needing a supporting block, Dead Bushes dropping sticks, Endermen remaining aggressive even after touching water, a new Skeleton bow animation & AI, Death messages on the respawn screen, a wearable Ender Dragon Head mob skull that can be powered by redstone, a complete revamp to the respawnable Ender Dragon boss battle with new AI patterns, ender acid breath, tougher to reacher Ender Crystals, & explosive fireballs, multiple boss health bars, End Gateway Portals that can take you to the new End Islands with an Ender Pearl, Chorus Plants farmed with Chorus Flowers that drop Chorus Fruit to teleport or craft new Purpur Blocks, Purpur Stairs, Purpur Slabs & Purpur Pillars, craftable End Stone Bricks, a new light source the End Rod, tower dungeon End Cities & floating End Ships to explore for rare loot, levitation-causing Shulker monsters that hide in protective shells, & more!
