Arrival of internet brings hope and concern to remote Amazon village • FRANCE 24 English

For members of the Matses Indigenous group living in the village of Nova Esperanca deep in the Brazilian Amazon, contacting the outside world would require a 500km, three-day canoe journey to the nearest town. But now, thanks to a Starlink satellite internet connection, the town’s residents have the world at their fingertips, though some fear this could prove a curse as well as a blessing.
