Marimba Concerto No. 2 - Gary Wain

My 2nd marimba concerto was half completed when my son, Vivian, passed away in 2015. Some years later his brother, Monty, encouraged me to resume work on the piece and he acted as my muse to see the completion of another movement. Special thanks goes to Jamie Willson whose energy and urging provided the impetus to finish the work and he then gave its first performance in spectacular style in a recital at the end of 2022.
It is an honour to have had my good friend and master marimbist, Steve Falk, take on the challenge of performing the concerto, brilliantly, for this video recording, and I am indebted to my friends and colleagues who made up the orchestra and played with such understanding and conviction.
