The Dukes General Lee vs Deputy Cletus and Sheriff Little

Actually it's Cletus! How in the hell did I blow that one? Thanks to a commenter for pointing that out. And I can't spell Sheriff for crap, either it looks like.

Just some hella funny scenes in one of my favorite Friday night TV shows of the 1980s. It's a good guys vs the bad guys type of comedy where the "bad guys" think the "good guys" are the "bad guys" because they keep messing up the evil plans of the "bad guys", namely Boss Hogg and Rosco P. Coltrane. The show parodies the south and the corruption that tends to go on in some of the small "backwoods" towns. The iconic car - a 1969 Dodge Charger is every much the star of the show as Tom Wopat (Luke) and John Schneider (Bo) as well as Catherine Bach (Daisy), Denver Pyle (Uncle Jessie), Sorrell Brookes (Boss Hogg) and James Best (Rosco). Together - with a litter help from their friends keep Boss and Rosco in line from not only trying to get Bo and Luke locked up but also to cheat and swindle the citizens of Hazzard.
People can sit there and read in all kinds of junk "between the lines"... or they can just forget their everyday troubles for an hour, their troubles will still be there when they finish so there is no need to worry about losing them. So just check your baggage at the door and have a little fun. It's good for you. High School was enough trouble as it was for me and some Friday night fun was my way of "partying".
I used to say that I was the only city boy who liked Soul (R&B/Funk as we called it back them) and yelled "Hee Haw" and here as Bo and Luke evade Cletus who is trying to apprehend them on Rosco's orders, or Sheriff Little of Chickasaw County - He only thinks the Dukes are bad because he has been "brainwashed" to believe it because of Boss Hogg. Kind of reminds me of how the world is brainwashed by the USA to believe North Kore... oh hell with it! Here I "Hee Haw" along with the Duke cousins as they jump the General Lee and then again as Cletus and Little attempt the same.... with not so favorable outcomes.
As for the rebel flag and the name "General Lee", again this is a parody of the south. Think of Weird Al Yankovic and how he parodies everything. Nobody takes Yankovic seriously because he does not take himself seriously and yet we all love his work because of it. The rebel flag represents the Dukes rebelling against the corruption that is Boss and Rosco be it the duo trying to get the Dukes railroaded or to screw the townsfolk. In a way, it's a down home detective show.
