No Internet freedom in China

Google and others had problems on the Chinese market and were replaced by Chinese equivalents such as Weibo, WeChat and Meituan. The biggest world player online for China is TikTok, which now provides China with global soft power and there was even TikTok in Taiwan during the election there.

The Great Firewall of China emerged when the Chinese Communist Party understood that censorship in China alone will not be enough. Why does China censor online content and how does Chinese censorship work?
