Hi guys
At the beginning of June we made a mad dash to the border of South Africa and Botswana to get the tail end of the Pel's Fishing owl breeding season. We visited the Limpokwena lodge (based on the Limpopo and Mogalakwena rivers) who had been posting terrific sightings of the Pel's Fishing owl to their social media pages. With just and afternoon and morning drive to hopefully find the owls we were birding hard and eventually we did flush one after the more active sight was actually a no show as the owl chick had fledged.

I got to tick off a long time lifer that has been on my birding bucket list for nearly 6 years and will definitely be back to get some better pictures as well!
