একটি আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠানে একজন প্রশ্ন করলেন, “গীরিশচন্দ্র সেন কি কম জানতেন?” তিনি এই প্রশ্নের মাধ্যমে ঠিক কি বোঝাতে চেয়েছেন তা তিনিই ভালো বলতে পারবেন। কিন্তু একটা স্বীকারোক্তি অন্তত তার বক্তব্যে ওঠে এসেছে। সেটা হলো, উঁচু স্তরের পণ্ডিত তথা জ্ঞানী বা আলেম (আলেম অর্থ জ্ঞানী) হতে হলে মাদ্রাসায় পড়া অপরিহার্য নয়। তাহলে এই কথাটা আমাকে কেন বারবার শুনতে হয়, “আপনি কোন্ মাদ্রাসায় পড়েছেন?” গীরিশচন্দ্র সেন তো কোনো মাদ্রাসায় পড়ে এত পাণ্ডিত্য অর্জন করেন নি, তাহলে সেই আলেম সাহেবদের এত পাণ্ডিত্যের অহংকার কোথা থেকে আসে, যেখানে তারা তাদের এলেম অর্থাৎ জ্ঞানকে ব্যবসার পুঁজি হিসেবে ব্যবহার করছে?

আমাদের সমাজে একটি বদ্ধমূল ধারণা প্রচলিত রয়েছে যে, মাদ্রাসায় না পড়লে কেউ আলেম হতে পারবে না। কিন্তু আদতে তা নয়। যে শিক্ষা ও জ্ঞান মানবতার কল্যাণে নিয়োজিত হয় না, সেটি প্রকৃত জ্ঞান নয়। সে জ্ঞান বিষাক্ত। জ্ঞানকে পুঁজি করে আমাদের পণ্ডিত ও আলেমরা ব্যবসা করে খাচ্ছে, যার কারণে আমাদের সমাজে এত এত আলেম, মুফতি, ,মুহাদ্দিস থাকা সত্বেও তারা মুসলিম জাতিকে সাম্রাজ্যবাদীদের থাবা থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারছে না। প্রকৃত জ্ঞানী তারাই, যারা মোমেন। মোমেনরা জাতির জন্য, মানবতার জন্য নিজেদের জীবনকে উৎসর্গ করতে প্রস্তুত থাকে। আজ আমাদের সমাজেরও মোমেনের দরকার, তাহলেই জাতি বাঁচবে, মানবতা বাঁচবে।

A preconception has established in our society that, only madrasa-educated persons are scholars, no others can be scholars. However, it is wrong. The knowledge by which the so-called scholars are gaining their own interest isn't true knowledge at all. That is why even after having so many Mufti, Muhaddis, Peer, Masayekh, not an inch of land of Muslims aren't saved from enemies. True scholars are those who are Momens and Momens do not live for himself, they sacrifice everything for others and humanity. Today, Muslims need to become Momens and only then, we would be able to save our lands, save our nation, and save the whole of humankind.
