📖 The 1981 take down of Philip “Chicken Man” Testa– On March 15, 1981, just before 3 a.m., a massive ex plosion ripped through South Philadelphia’s Girard Estates, eliminating crime boss Philip “Chicken Man” Testa. The blast—remotely triggered—left a huge crater and scattered debris across the neighborhood, marking one of the most infamous Mafia power plays in Philly history.

Testa’s demise coming just a year after the rub out of Angelo Bruno, set off a chain of betrayals and revenge hits. Investigators suspected Frank "Chickie" Narducci and underboss Peter Casella orchestrated the coup. Casella fled to Florida, but Narducci was rubbed out in 1982, allegedly by Testa’s son, Salvatore. The bloodshed continued with suspected pizza owner Rocco “Rocky” Marinucci found no longer among the living in 1982—payback for his role.

But the vendetta wasn’t over. By 1984, Salvatore Testa was clipped, reportedly on orders from Nicodemo Scarfo, closing the book on one of Philly’s deadliest mob wars.
