During the Del Mar horse race season, Amtrak runs some larger trains to accommodate the increase of passengers. It's known as the Del Mar Block. It usually consists of 3 extra cars and an engine. This weekend, Phase 1 Heritage Unit (P42DC #156) was assigned to the block.

For a change of pace, I went down to the Santa Fe depot in San Diego to film some of the track switching and coupling process. I then filmed it a few times, managing to get some pacing shots from the 5 freeway as well! Filmed on a gloomy stormy Saturday evening in early August.
