Today’s video is all about why I’ve decided to stop listening to music for 30 days, as a means of overcoming my compulsion to daydream about an idealized version of myself instead of accepting things as they are. Truth be told, I’ve used daydreaming as a coping mechanism for many years, any time I’ve come face to face with feelings of insignificance or unworthiness. Putting on a pair of headphones has long been the most effective way to remove me from the present moment, distract me from my emotions and propel me to dreamland. Don’t get me wrong, music and daydreaming are both beautiful and I absolutely don’t intend to give them up, I simply need to take a little break in order to change my relationship with them.
