In video number one I'll be going over the first 5 steps you must do to start the timeshare exchange process with Interval International or RCI. The first two videos are the foundation from which getting a good timeshare exchange is built from, and some of you may find them a bit basic if you're already familiar with the timeshare exchange world. But you should go ahead a watch them anyway. They're just a few minutes long and you'll probably learn a few things you didn't already know.

I've compacted how start getting a great timeshare exchange in the first two videos so I can concentrate on giving you great strategies and secrets in the next 8.

So here we go.
Know Your Interval International or RCI Directory

Step one is to decide where you want to go. I know this is obvious but here's the take away. I recommend you really get to know your Interval International or RCI directory. Rather than picking it up the day you want to request your timeshare exchange, you should go through it before hand and not only star the timeshare resorts you like, but also cross out the ones you don't.

For instance, if you want to do a timeshare exchange to a beach resort, some of the resorts listed may be blocks from the beach rather than right on it. Crossing them off now will save you time of filtering through the directories the next time you want to do an exchange to the same area.

The Interval International or RCI directories are real pretty, and you may not want to do this, but with thousands of resort listings in both Interval International or RCI this is an important step in learning how to get the best timeshare exchange. You'll be getting a new resort directory next year that will contain many new timeshare resorts so keep your old one for reference.
Why It's So Hard Getting a Timeshare Exchange in the Summer

Step two is deciding when you want to go. Now I know you're thinking, "Duh, is he kidding? This guy's no expert." But I'm just getting warmed up with this first video and taking care of the housekeeping.

But here's the take away. A study showed that 50% of timeshare owners have kids in school and only want to exchange on school holidays and from mid June through August. But those weeks comprise only 25% of the calendar year. So 50% of timeshare owners are competing for 25% of the available timeshare exchange weeks.

That's what makes it so hard for you to get in. So remember to plan even more in advance when requesting a timeshare exchange during these times.
How Paying Your Maintenance Fees Early Can Get You a Better Timeshare Exchange

Step three is to pay your maintenance fees before you contact RCI or Interval International. Neither company will let you request an exchange until your maintenance fees are current. Many timeshare owners call Interval International or RCI first. Then, after being on hold for 20 minutes they are told they can't place a request because their maintenance fees aren't paid. What a waste of time!

Now here's the take away about paying maintenance fees. You don't have to, nor should you EVER, wait until you receive you bill in order to pay it. I'll be explaining why in an upcoming video. Most timeshare resorts will let you pay it by check or credit card over the phone.

You'll only need to do step four if you own in a points based or a floating week timeshare resort.

It's seems logical to think that when you've decided to exchange your week, and you have paid your HOA's, to call Interval International or RCI next. But that's not the case. You actually have to call your timeshare resort first and instruct them to deposit or bank a week before you can place a timeshare exchange request.

In a later video I'll give you a little known strategy about depositing a week that will really increase your chances of getting the best timeshare exchange.

If you own a fixed week you don't have to call your resort first. You only need to make sure your maintenance fees are current then call your timeshare exchange company directly.

And finally, you call Interval International or RCI to put in your request.
