As Your Miami Domestc Violence Lawyer, I do depositions in most of my domestic violence, stalking violence, repeat violence, dating violence, and sexual violence cases.

I get a lot of criticism from opposing counsel for doing depositions in these cases. Depositions are time-consuming and can be expensive but they can also make your case a winner.

When people file these Petitions for Injunctions and Restraining Orders they are allowed to say whatever they want without challenge. The first time they are ever challenged about their allegations is during a deposition. A lot of times, as in this case, I find out the allegations are not as strong or reliable as they are initially believed to be.

Depositions also give you an idea of what a witness or party is going to testify to. Their story can be locked in so they are unable to change it on the fly while testifying at a domestic violence final hearing. You also get to find out what evidence they have.

Depositions can absolutely win cases, and save clients time, money, and aggravation.
