Life is all about balance, and for every dream experience that shakes up your world, there’s often a sacrifice to be made. London-based, Galway, Ireland-bred indie rock band NewDad have had plenty of the former since releasing their debut single ‘How’ in 2020 and steadily building an ever-burgeoning fanbase around their spellbinding dream-pop. Built on a foundation of prolific songwriting and an intrinsic understanding of rhythm and melody, NewDad's newest album, 'Altar', balances shoegaze atmospherics with hard-hitting lyrics that paint a beautifully melancholy portrait of homesickness and sacrifice. Taking notes from greats like R.E.M. and The Sundays, 'Altar' is as beautiful as it is crunchy, deftly skipping between sparkling, gentle moments and heavy blasts of guitar and bass. The formidable young act’s Audiotree Live performance bursts with propulsive, rumbling basslines alongside grimy pools of reverb and Julie Dawson’s resplendent voice.
