In 2017, an estimated 170 million passengers flew from the 5 main London airports, with Heathrow hitting 75 million visitors alone. With this level of foot traffic, it is no surprise that people are worried about long queues and crowded spaces. More than 1 in 3 (34%) of us admit that crowded airports are a low point of the travelling experience, adding extra stress and frustration. 1 in 4 (20%) also say they dread the thought of long queues for check in, and security and feel their holiday would be much better if this was not a worry.

For many, the excitement will build from the moment flights are booked, and new research has found that over a third (36%) of us believe our holiday starts the morning of the flight.

On average travelers spend £227 per person of spending money for every week they are holidaying. Low-cost airlines have made travel much more accessible for the general population with an estimated 501 million passengers flying in low-cost seats over the last year. However, half of the individuals (50%) worry about unexpected costs of cheap flights, while just under half (49%) expect to lack space during their journey.
