00:06 - Bassbar part one - Preparation of wood and gluing surface

00:11 - Before starting, apply a layer of hide glue inside the top plate insisting well in endgrain areas, to avoid the risk of excessive absorption during the gluing of the bassbar to guarantee a perfect sealing of the gluing. Allow to dry overnight and finish with a scraper, smoothing out the surface made rough and irregular due to the absorption of the glue.

00:47 - Use spruce of medium density with narrow, straight and regular grain. Plane the first side bringing it parallel to the grain both longitudinally and vertically

02:16 - Plan the other side reaching a constant thickness of 5.8 mm

04:11 - Locate the split line observing the direction of the fiber and split the bassbar using an opening knife with wedge-shaped blade, in order to obtain an optimal continuity of the fiber along the bar to ensure the best possible resistance

05:58 - Mark the length equal to 7/9 of the top plate and cut to size with a hacksaw.

07:00 - Refine the split line on one side so that it is continuous along its entire length. This will be the upper side of the bassbar where the clamps will rest : plan it at 90° to the sides to ensure a correct direction of the clamping force during gluing
