How do we make our space combat in RPG's more exciting? We thank out two subscribers who asked us about this and here is Justin's 3 easy steps to make a better space battles in your RPG's!

These steps are system agnostic and can be applied when using your RPG's specific space combat rules. Space battles in your RPG can be very exciting or it can fall flat. So to make your RPG space battles more exciting, we must first establish that fighting in space is scary! You're in a tin can in a vacuum. Make sure your players understand how vulnerable they really are!

Another point to making your RPG space battles more exciting is to leave the "Hero Ship Syndrome" at the door. That is, don't have a ship that do everything like the Millenium Falcon can. Your players have ships that are great in some areas and weak in many others. Make sure as the game master you exploit the weaknesses of both the PC's and NPC's ships!

Lastly, to keep the RPG space battles exciting, you do the exact opposite of what your instincts tell you. Keep it gritty and less flashy as well as keep it small! It's easier for the players and game master alike to keep track of two ships and not twenty. An overwhelmed player is a checked out player who just doesn't care anymore!
