How to do Import Customs Clearance | Import Customs Clearance Step by Step Process

Описание к видео How to do Import Customs Clearance | Import Customs Clearance Step by Step Process

Clearing customs in India for imports involves several steps and adhering to certain regulations. Here's a general overview of the process and some important rules:
1. Importer Exporter Code (IEC): Before you can import goods into India, you need to obtain an Importer Exporter Code from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). This code is a mandatory requirement and is used in all customs documentation.
2. Bill of Entry: This is the primary document required for customs clearance. It is a legal document filed by importers or customs brokers with the customs department, providing details about the imported goods.
3. Customs Duties: Understand the customs duties applicable to your imported goods. India has different duty rates based on the type of goods, their value, and where they originate from (according to trade agreements).
4. Documentation: Ensure you have all the required documents for customs clearance. This typically includes:
-Commercial invoice
-Bill of Lading/Airway Bill
-Packing list
-Certificate of Origin (if applicable)
-Import license (if applicable)
Any other specific documents required for certain types of goods
5. Customs Valuation: Goods are assessed for valuation to determine the customs duties payable. The customs department usually follows the transaction value method, which is the actual price paid or payable for the goods when sold for export to India.
6. Customs Declaration: You or your customs broker need to declare the imported goods to customs authorities by filing a Bill of Entry. This document includes details such as description of goods, quantity, value, country of origin, and tariff classification.
7. Customs Examination and Assessment: Once the documents are submitted, customs may examine the goods physically. They assess the declared value and verify the contents against the documents provided.
8. Payment of Duties: After assessment, you need to pay the customs duties, taxes, and any other charges applicable. You can pay these online or through authorized banks.
9. Clearance: Once all dues are paid, and customs is satisfied with the documentation and assessment, they issue a Customs Clearance Certificate (CCC). This allows the release of the goods.
10. Delivery: The goods can now be collected from the port/airport and transported to your desired location.
