San Miniato al Monte

Hike up to Piazzale Michelangelo to take in one of the most spectacular panoramas the city has to offer. The Miniato is one of the oldest churches and the view from this church is fantastic and is a favourite church for weddings. It’s usually free of crowds.

Santo Spirito

Located in the Oltrarno district, this is another important work of Renaissance architecture by Brunelleschi. In the sacristy a special art treasure is hidden: a wooden crucifix carved by Michelangelo when only 18 years old.

As you walk around the outside of the church, you will be struck by it's rather modest appearance. The facade forms the dramatic backdrop to life in one of Florence’s most vibrant squares. Piazza Santo Spirito. An authentic piazza to experience everything from a morning cappuccini to evening aperitivi and meal.

Santa Maria Novella
The origins of the historic pharmacy at Santa Maria Novella is directly tied to the the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella.

Perfumed waters were used for all kinds of medicinal treatments, including to fight off the plague in 1381. The Historical Shop, a main part of the store you can visit today.

San Lorenzo

The starkly unfinished brick exterior of San Lorenzo can come as something of a shock for first-time visitors but don’t let that put you off. This Brunelleschi-designed basilica is a masterpiece of Renaissance design, and its status as the local church and final resting place of the all- powerful Medici ensures that a treasure-trove of fantastic artworks lie in wait within.

The Basilica of San Lorenzo was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi and it was the church of the Medici Family, where all the members of this family are buried. In the Medici Chapels there are important sculptures carved by Michelangelo who designed the facade too, but never built it, that's why today the church is still unfinished, with a facade just in bricks.
Santa Croce

The Basilica of Santa Croce is a franciscan church built at the end of the 1200's and is the resting place as of “Florentine Greats” such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Rossini and so many more. It shows a very beautiful Gothic architecture with paintings, frescoes and stained glass windows. In the ancient convent you find the oldest leather workshop of Florence, called the Leather School, where leather bags, purses and garments are still handmade by skilled artisans.

Nothing can prepare you for your first site of Florence’s jaw-dropping cathedral. The most iconic monument in the city for good reason, the Duomo’s staggeringly beautiful pink, white and green facade seems to dominate the horizon in all directions.

Cathedral of Santa Maria del FioreThe "Duomo" , as the Cathedral is called, is the most important religious building in Florence since 1296 when its construction started. It was finished 150 years later and it was the largest Christian church in the world before the building of St.Peter's Cathedral in Rome.
Its Dome, designed by the Architect Filippo Brunelleschi in 1420 is the greatest masterpiece of Renaissance architecture and still the biggest masonry dome in the world.

Right in front of the Cathedral stands the Baptistery which is the oldest building in Florence, built in the VIII century AD , it is a very beautiful example of Romanesque architecture. Its main door is decorated with ten panels in golden bronze representing episodes of the Ancient Testament with a perfect use of depth and perspective and it is called the Gate of Paradise.
